Construction Solutions

The Construction Solutions Practice provides an advisory service to the global construction and engineering community, on contractual, commercial and technical issues.

Our main focus is on the prevention, management, and resolution of disputes which may affect projects.

We are regularly called upon to forensically investigate why delays or additional costs have arisen on a project: who is responsible and to what extent parties are responsible to others in terms of time and money. We work very closely with Uk and Global law firms to investigate and then resolve disputes.

As part of our Construction Solutions team, you’ll have the opportunity to work as a member of our teams on different commissions. Day to day responsibilities will vary depending on projects but are likely to include:

  • Reviewing project correspondence and other data
  • Analysing contracts and records
  • Helping to identify key issues
  • Preparing data analysis and spreadsheets
  • Assisting in preparation of reports for our clients
  •  Attending client meetings with team members

Occasionally the role will require travel to sites in the UK, and there also may opportunities from time to time to travel overseas to visit sites and to work on a short-term basis in FTI offices.

We are particularly interested in graduates with a genuine interest in construction and engineering, aligned with a passion for problem-solving.

You may be studying related degrees, such as Building Surveying, Construction Project Management, Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management, and possibly Law. However, those studying other degrees will be considered, and candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to think logically and work with complex facts and numbers, with an eye for detail and an inquisitive mind. Good commercial awareness is essential.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential as the role will involve communications from time to time with a varied group of clients, often at senior level.

Second language skills, particularly French, Spanish and Russian are desirable but are not essential.
